Casa Loma

Living in Casa Loma feels somewhat like stepping in a fairy tale. Atop the hill on Avenue Road Hill sits a beautiful castle. Castle Loma silently shadows the beautiful neighbourhood. The castle identifies this affluent enclave of Toronto, and gives it majestic appeal.

The neighbourhood, of course was named after the castle. Nestled in the brow of Avenue Road Hill. It is bounded on the north by St. Clair Avenue West, east Spadina Road, south CP rail tracks, west Bathurst Street. The castle was built in the early 1900’s for over three million dollars, but was handed over to the city by the debt-laden owner. In the 1920’s the neighbourhood was built on the extensive grounds of the castle. Surrounded by ravines and parkland, the neighbourhood has a romantic and enchanted feel. The charming prominence of the castle led to a huge boom in the area and attracted many wealthy and affluent neighbours. The castle adds a lovely feature and residents appreciate the enchanting backdrop to the posh neighbourhood.

The homes are highly coveted by home-buyers looking for a neighbourhood with character and special features. Owning an address in Casa Loma is very fashionable in Toronto. The expensive homes that grace Casa Loma are an impressive mix of large Edwardian, Tudor, Georgian and English Cottage. Homes have stunning, pristine landscaping, and are shaded by lush trees. This area of Toronto boasts a high-class urban lifestyle.

The area is family-friendly with many amenities in the area. Wrapped around Sir Winston Churchhill Park is Nordheimer Ravine. This quiet oasis features a rustic wood path with many excellent picnic spots and a large variety of trees, plants and wildlife. There is also a children’s playground in Wells Hill Park, which also has a wading pool. You can also enjoy community services at the Wychwood Public Library, just across the street. The community centre operates out of Hillcrest School, which includes an indoor pool and a gymnasium.
